Fresh Drinking Water

 
Less than 37% of the population of Haiti has access to potable water.  Children die each day from waterborne illnesses. 80% of all diseases in Haiti can be traced back to contaminated water.  Fresh drinking water is something we, in the United States, take for granted.  Many in Haiti can not find good water to drink or they have to walk a very long distance to get drinking water. After visiting Malou Elementary School, we realized that the nearest access to fresh water was very far away.  Each day someone had to walk a long distance to pump water into a pitcher and bring it back to the children.  Some days it was difficult to get enough water to last the entire school day.  As a result of seeing this hardship, we began pursuing ways to finance and dig wells where most needed.  Wells at this time cost approximately $2,000 U.S.  

Well projects not only give fresh drinking water in much needed areas, but it also provides us the opportunity to employee local Haitians.  God has brought this ministry into our lives and if you are interested in helping supply fresh drinking water to the needy in Haiti, please contact us. 

Well in Canaan
Hallelujah!!! The well is finished. It was completed at 65 ft deep.  Attached are a few of the last pics taken.  Everyone is so happy to have water in the area.  They are praising the Lord!! Please thank everyone once again for blessing this area.  Will let you know when and where the second well will be dug.  May the Lord bless everyone who had any part of providing this well.  It is the first well dug since the earthquake and we are so thankful to God for the success of it. Many, many blessings to all!!!

OUTREACH/CANAAN:
The Lord has opened the door for us to minister in another area this year (2010) called Canaan.  This is a city that was developed due to the earthquake.  It continues to grow daily as more and more people move in.  The land belongs to the government but it was not being used, so the people began moving in and putting up many different types of make-shift homes. So far we have held two medical clinics there.  The Gospel has been presented several times and many people received Christ as their Savior.  The people in Canaan were very happy to receive the Gospel. Canaan is very much like a desert. We have walked around the whole area and have not seen any source of water for the people. Hearts with Hope for Haiti received the funds to begin digging a well there.  This well will be a blessing to many people and we would appreciate your continued prayers for the success of obtaining water for the people of Canaan.
