Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We pray all is well with you in the Lord. Thank you for being faithful supporters to the ministry.
We continue to praise the Lord for His faithfulness to the ministry.  Many have given to help complete the work on the new school building.  We even had a large donation from the Haitian contractor the morning we were going to call him to give us an estimate for the work.  We were getting ready to call him but before we made the call, he was at the gate with money in his hand.  God is so amazing! We are excited to be able to put three classes in the building this school year.  Thank you, to everyone who had a part in providing the funds.  May the Lord bless you for your giving.
Our most recent mission team came to help provide houses for two families in this area. We are so thankful to Bro. Jim Hambrick, his team, and Christian Light for making this possible. What a great blessing for these two families!
We can not thank you enough for your prayers, love, and support for El Shaddai Ministry.   Please see below for more info and some pictures.
May the Lord bless you!

Recently a team from First Baptist Church of Gray Gables conducted a VBS in the mornings for the children.  There were between 120 and 150 per day.  In the afternoon they taught a course on sexual purity to the young adults/youth in which we had 50 to 65 everyday. Approximately 20 young adults make decisions to commit themselves to living a sexually pure life (6 of which were male.) The also fed everyone who attended a peanut butter sandwich and chips everyday.  They were also able to make some repairs to our small truck.  We were blessed to have them donate money to continue building on the wall to enclose our new property. The team from FBCGG consisted of 10 people of which 7 were from their college/singles class.

Raising Up A New Generation For Jesus In Haiti

“Preparing Giant Killers”

The Fourth Annual Leadership Conference for educators was held again at El Shaddai in Dessources, Haiti, on July 25-27, 2011.  Over the three days, an average of 52 registrants from eight different schools/ministries attended the conference which was held in the upstairs area of the children home.  Eleven staff members of El Shaddai Children Home were so happy to be able to participate even though it was from the downstairs area.  Also in attendance was the team of seven missionaries that have spent the past year praying and preparing for the conference along with many others who were unable to come.  We are so very thankful to this team for all they have done to help make this conference such a great success this year.

We also send a great big thank you to Susan Perkins, a missionary in Haiti, and the two young Haitians who are a part of her ministry for leading an exciting VBS type program for the children of El Shaddai again this year.  The children always get so much out of this time of teaching about Jesus through Bible stories, games, singing, and activities. They sing songs and recite verses throughout each day long after the conference is over.  We are truly blessed to have Susan and her team take on this most important task of not just babysitting, but truly helping our children love the Word of God and enjoy learning about Jesus!

Without good translators, this conference would not have been as successful. We are so grateful to all the translators that the Lord provided for us.

We want to give praise and glory to the Lord because once again He bestowed so many great blessings on the conference.  We are going to share a few things with you but please know that God did so much more than what we will share at this time.

The main theme of the conference is “Raising Up a New Generation for Jesus in Haiti.”  We are going to continue with this theme as long as the Lord leads us to do so and we will have sub-themes to enhance it.  The sub-theme of this year’s conference, “Preparing Gaint Killers,” came from the story of David facing Goliath in the name of the Lord from 1 Samuel 17 and it was taught on each of the three days by Elizabeth and Marie.  Their teachings were complimented by teachings from many of the team members throughout the conference.  The “giants” that were spoken of are those things that we allow to hinder us from serving God in the way that He has called us to serve Him. Some of the “giants” that the directors and teachers mentioned were: not enough money, not enough food, doubt, disobedience, lack of faith, etc. They are many of the same “giants” we face daily. We learned that when we look at our “giants” through the eyes of faith, the “giants” become much smaller and God becomes much BIGGER.

Many teachings throughout the conference encouraged us to allow our faith to grow in our personal lives and spill over into our schools and onto the children in our classrooms.  We all walked away with a new commitment to “raising up a new generation for Jesus” wherever we serve.

Wonderful praise and worship to the Lord was led by several of the directors and teachers to begin each day of the conference.  We appreciate their faithfulness to provide leadership examples in this most important area. We also used this time as an opportunity to cleanse ourselves before the Lord of anything that would keep us from receiving all that the Lord had in store for our lives.

On the second day of the conference, we had breakout sessions to discuss the importance of teaching Bible on a regular basis, how to show God in every subject, different teaching styles, and how to use diverse teaching aids.

In one of the sessions, we were able to present a one year Bible scope and sequence with memory verse cards.  This is a great tool for teaching their students more of God’s Word on a day to day basis.

We were also excited that this year, one of the directors and one of the teachers had been asked to prepare a teaching for one of the breakout sessions on “Teaching God’s Truth in all Subject Areas.”  We were so blessed by their leadership skills and their willingness to help us in this area.  They were truly prepared and added great insight into this area and many appreciated their teaching.

Another great blessing was that we received many donations of school supplies and teaching aids from manufacturers across the U.S.  They are way too numerous to list here but these companies were excited to participate and eager to help make some sort of difference in Haiti.  We are so thankful for all they provided for each of the schools.  During the breakout sessions we were able to demonstrate many of the teaching aids that each participating school will be receiving.

What a great privilege and honor it was to have L.D. John, ( the Haitian pastor who spoke last year, come and speak again for us on the last day of the conference!  His message of hope for the children of Haiti is inspiring, heartfelt and encouraging.  He taught on the difference in a calling (that is a gift from God) and a job/career. He challenged the directors and teachers to make sure that they are called to do what they have chosen to do and to do it with great passion for their call and for the Lord. He also let them know that they lack nothing.  God has already provided what is needed, they just need to step out in faith and do what the Lord says.  What a great blessing from the Lord to be inspired and encouraged by our brother, L.D. John.

At the end of the conference, we were able to provide a hot meal for everyone that attended the conference.  As they left, they were also given a bag of rice with spaghetti and cooking oil.  This was a great blessing for each of them to receive.

Hearts with Hope for Haiti, Inc. and the team felt extremely privileged and blessed to be a part of this conference.  We greatly appreciate all of those who were supportive of our team through their giving and their prayers.  You have had as much a part of this great work in Haiti as we have.  May the Lord bless you so much for your love, support, and prayers.

On Thursday, we were able to help a visiting team with a VBS program for all the children in the area of Dessources.  We were privileged to be a part of such a great ministry.  On our last day in Haiti, because so many of you were so generous in your donations to the ministry, we were able to do a food distribution for the whole area of Dessources.  We gave out bags which included rice, spaghetti, and cooking oil to 170 families in the Dessources area.

This past Monday, Marie and Elizabeth met with all the directors to get feedback on the conference. Everyone was very excited and thankful that they were able to participate.  Each shared what the conference meant to them and how they would try to incorporate all they learned into their school this year. They understand that saying you’re  a Christian school and really being one are truly two different things.  They truly want to “Raise up a New Generation for Jesus” in their schools and in their areas.

We are so thankful to the Lord and to everyone that helped us with the conference this year.  We truly believe that God received all the glory throughout the entire conference.  We ask that you continue to keep all the directors and teachers in your prayers as the Lord reminds you.  We would appreciate your prayers throughout this next year for the Lord to be glorified in each school.  We have also set the date for next year’s Leadership Conference and have begun seeking the Lord for direction.  The conference is set for July 23-25, 2011, if the Lord willing.  We are expecting even greater things next year.  Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you.

Dear Precious Friends & Family,

Such excitement at El Shaddai this morning.  Everyone has been working to prepare for ministering at the prisons today.  What an awesome atmosphere with the presence of Jesus everywhere!  We spent the morning worshipping and praising the Lord while the ladies were working like a well organized program preparing all the food.  Each lady doing her part for the process to be smooth and peaceful.  It was a beautiful sight.  Each lady had the glow of Jesus on  her face.

Two trucks just drove off with the meals.  There are 150  meals of chicken, rice and beans, vegetables, tampico, and water.  Packed beautifully in a container for each guard and prisoner. There are three teams each going to a different prison.  They are going to serve a meal that will nourish the people's physical bodies and then present the gospel to nourish their spiritual bodies.

Yesterday, I went to the prisons just to see how many prisoners and guards were at each prison so we could prepare for today's meal. I did not go prepared to minister to them, but the Lord says we must be ready in season and out.  The Lord opened the door for me to minister to both men and women.  Four men prayed to receive Christ and I was able to pray with a couple ladies that were very distraught.  Even without a Bible in my hand, God still used me!  I am so amazed at His goodness!

The Lord has opened the door for us to minister at a Women's Prison that at this time has 300 prisoners.  We are excited for this opportunity. We so need your prayers and support at this time.  We are scheduled to go on August 20th.  We would like to prepare meals and also take them needed toiletries.  Please pray about helping us with this need. Please pray that the Lord will show us the best way to prepare and serve the meals. Also, below is a list of supplies needed to make up gift bags for each prisoner. If you are able to help us with these items, please let us know. Before purchasing any items, please make sure you have a way to get them to us by August 20.  If you feel led to give financial support to the prison ministry, please let us know. *******MOST IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE PRAY THAT EACH AND EVERY HEART BE PREPARED TO HEAR AND RECEIVE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.  THEY MAY BE IN PRISON PHYSICALLY, BUT SPIRITUALLY THEY CAN BE SET FREE!*******

Supplies Needed Bar SoapDeodorantToothpasteToothbrush (special for prisoners)Body LotionShampooFeminine PadsWash ClothInk Pens (special for prisoners)NotepadsGallon Ziplocks (NOTE: All supplies must fit together in gallon ziplock.)

We are so excited about the Lord using us in the prison ministry.  We cannot thank you enough for all your help with El Shaddai Ministry. Thank you so much for your constant love, prayers, and support.  May the Lord bless you abundantly!

Elizabeth has been home for a few weeks spending time with family & friends.  She has also had the opportunity to visit with many supporters of El Shaddai Ministries.  What great joy to hear the love and compassion from so many for Marie and the El Shaddai Ministries in Dessources!  The Lord continues to bless and provide in amazing ways!  We are so thankful for each of you for your faithfulness in your prayers, your love, and your support.  The Lord always lays us on your heart exactly when we need it the most.

The summer is quickly approaching and we are excited about what the Lord has in store. There are many teams schedule to minister with El Shaddai and in the Dessources area.  We are trusting the Lord to do great things in the hearts of the people in Haiti and also in the hearts of all those who will be sacrificing their time, energy, and finances to be a blessing in Haiti.

The 4th Annual Leadership Conference for educators in Haiti is also quickly approaching.  It is set for July 25, 26, & 27.  Chuck & Suzie Head have done a tremendous job in getting everything organized for this year's conference.  They have held prayer meetings each month specifically asking the Lord for direction and wisdom for the conference. We are excited about all the Lord is revealing and trust that He will truly be glorified in all that will take place.  We would so appreciate your prayers for this conference as we once again encourage and uplift the educators who will be attending.  They have been so blessed by the conferences in the past and we pray this one will be the best ever!

We are very excited about a new area the Lord has allowed us to begin ministering in.  We have been able to start helping women who desire to have a business to help support their family and help feed their children.  As of today, we have been able to help four ladies.  One is a seamtress, one sells beans, and the final two sell various items out of their home.  We will be meeting with them every three months or so to encourage them and pray with them.  We are anxiously waiting to see what amazing things the Lord will do in each of these ladies and their families.

The Lord has also opened the door for Marie to minister in hospitals and prisons.  She has been able to visit, take food, and present the Gospel.  At her second visit, there were nine (9) prisoners who gave their lives to the Lord.  God is so amazing and truly opens doors where there seems to be no doors.  We thank Him and praise Him for this opportunity and trust He will continue to lead and guide us as we continue this ministry.

We thank you so very much for all your continue prayers, love, and support.  You are an important part of this ministry.  May the Lord continue to bless you!  We love you!     Marie & Elizabeth

Wow!  It is time to return to Haiti.  I had such a wonderful time with family and friends these past few weeks. I thank the Lord He gave me this opportunity to really enjoy being home for awhile.  Now, I am excited to get back to El Shaddai and all the Lord has planned for me for the next few months.  Please keep us in your prayers.  Working on updating some pictures and information on the website.  Hopefully, finish it before I leave tomorrow.  Will leave early tomorrow morning from Denver and arrive in Port au Prince around 4:00 p.m.  The Lord is doing great things and I am ready for whatever He may have for me.  Thanks again for all your love, support, and especially your prayers.  Below are a few pictures of my family and my time home.  Enjoy and God bless you!
